Malachi Blair specialises in transforming costumes and carnival accessories into unique customised pieces.

The Leeds based artist has been immersed in the world the world of Carnival as both a participant and a costume designer. As a seasoned masquerade, Malachi has taken part in carnival parades in Leeds, London, Berlin and Trinidad. Having honed his craft by supporting and shadowing established artists, Leeds West Indian Carnival (LWIC) Founder Arthur France, Lorina Gumbs and Renata Gordon, Malachi emerged as a talented artist himself.

In 2014 his large-scale costume in collaboration with AnonyMas won the prestigious Leeds Carnival Princess title. In 2018, he was selected by LWIC for an Excellence Commission to create an outstanding costume which in a repeat of 2014 won him the title once again.

Malachi’s attention to detail and love of intricate fabrics, gems and trimmings used in costume design prompted him to start A Touch of Mas – a bespoke service providing extravagant, detailed customisation of costume body wear and accessories.
