The artist behind Costuminati, with 20 years in fashion and design, Renata Gordon is a talented freelance carnival costume consultant who works behind the scenes to create costume magic – a creative Mary Poppins of Mas.

Renata is one of the North’s most exciting Caribbean carnival costume designers known for her flair for combining traditional materials (feathers and gems) with textiles such as leather and couture techniques with technical pattern cutting.

From design concept to realisation, her all-round skills, international experience, and a 1st Class BA Hons in Fashion Design, Manufacture, and Marketing & Promotions – enable her to step in at any stage of a costume design project.

Her roles have included Visual Merchandising Assistant Manager for Harvey Nichols, Professional Development Co-ordinator at the UK Centre for Carnival Arts as well as roles in student support and commercial administration.

As well as international experience in Hong Kong, Berlin and Trinidad Carnival, Renata’s costume design and workshop clients have included Leeds West Indian Carnival, Leeds Inspired, and designs for Manchester Pride and Notting Hill Carnival.

Available on weekends and evenings with November, July and August the busiest periods, Renata is open to commissions in;
